Would You Attend a Midnight Wedding?

Dear Readers:

While I design a number of different events, most of the work I do is for weddings. In a way, I have always celebrated love, and it is no wonder that  I think Valentines Day is the most exciting holiday on the US Calendar.  A day to honor love? Wonderful.  It is for this reason that Theo and I are getting married on this very special day.

Well, technically.

You see, we live in New York, which is known as “the city that never sleeps” for a good reason.  At any given moment, there are millions moving from one area of the city to another. It is for this reason that we thought it would be fun to have a midnight wedding.  We  had the very talented Tifany Wunschi from Gourmet Invitations design our invitations and sent them out last Monday. The response has been overwhelming. Everyone adores Tiffany’s amazing and artistic design (she really is a true artist) but most have misread the 11PM call time  as a typo.

Speaking candidly, my favorite parts of a wedding are a heartfelt ceremony and a fun after-party.  With this in mind, Theo and I decided that we would skip the sometimes-boring reception and just move from our special moment straight into the celebration. Our wedding begins at the stroke of midnight and will help all guests, married or single, start the Valentine’s Day celebration with a bang (and many fun surprises).  Some of our guests and family members love the idea, others think we are nuts.

I’d love to know what your personal thoughts are regarding our decision to marry at midnight.  Would you attend a midnight wedding on a weeknight when you have to work the next day? Are we being selfish in not taking this into consideration when planning our wedding?  Or do you feel it is a fun, once-in-a-lifetime event that is worth the sleep sacrifice?

I look forward to your thoughts!

Preston
