Dear Preston:
I loved the playful designs you and Theo used for both your Save The Date and Invitations this past February when you were married. I am about to get married myself (in November) and while I have a deep appreciation for the ones you did, I am much more of a classic bride. As a compromise with my fiancé, our wedding has a black-and-white palette and our designer has done an incredible job bringing our shared vision to life. My fiancé and I have gotten on wonderfully – until now. Thanks to a real difference in opinions regarding the invitations, we are having our first true disagreement regarding our wedding. As a traditional and classic bride, I have always envisioned having cream invitations with touches of gold. However, my fiancé is insisting that the invitations be black-and-white themed like the rest of our wedding.

The truth is that there is no “right or wrong” when it comes to invitations; it is very much up to the couple to decide what best suits their needs and dreams. Gourmet Invitations to help us find a nice balance between timeless and fun and feel she did a wonderful job. It sounds like you would like for your guests to be aware they will be attending an elegant affair, whereas your fiancé would like to maintain your black-and-white wedding theme. If I were in your place, I would ask your invitation designer to suggest a few ideas and choose the one that best suits both of your needs. Do not allow this small disagreement to ruin the fun of planning an event that is meant to celebrate your decision to spend your lives together.
