I always talk about the beauty in life, the power of positive thinking, and the belief that everything is possible because that’s truly what I believe. So naturally, everything in my life always goes right. Just kidding! There is not an ounce of truth in that sentence and it actually feels good to write it out. Everyone, and I mean everyone, has had their share of troubles and uncertainty. This week has been full of lessons for me and I have completely embraced them. As I navigated through a series of unforeseen bumps on the road, I took a step back in order to clear my thoughts. In the end, I decided (in true Kathy fashion) that instead of giving in, I would give it my all once more.
Here’s what I can share:
FACT 1
While I am an assertive and strong woman, I truly despise confrontation. I don’t seek it and perhaps never will. However, when confronted or when there is a need to solve a problem (regardless of it’s size), I accept the challenge. No boxing gloves needed just pure logic. When issues arise in life: career, love, parenthood, friendships, etc., don’t run away. Remember that avoidance brews disaster.
FACT 2
I met with three amazing industry women this week and each of them was seeking advice on different levels and for different reasons. The fact that some industry folks trust my advice is humbling and a bit scary all at once. It’s a huge responsibility but I trust that if I address all queries from a place of clarity and in an impartial manner, I may be able to be part of the solution. In all honesty, their experiences instantaneously become mine and for that I’m thankful. I find myself learning along with them.
FACT 3
Kindness wins even when people disappoint you. There is no sense of changing who you are (unless it’s for the better) because of the situation you are in. Don’t allow circumstances to disrupt YOU, your beliefs, or your flow. You are as unique as your fingerprint.
“Believe in yourself and who you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle” ~Christian D. Larson
