Dear Readers:
One of the best parts of spring (for me) is the Easter holiday. Some of my fondest memories are of the wonderfully colorful hats I would see the women in church donning, followed by the annual feast my late mother would prepare for us to enjoy. These moments in my life were truly special and ones that I cherish well into my adulthood. Though I am on location working with a client this year, I usually decorate the table and room for a feast prepared for loved ones by my talented sisters who do a wonderful job of recreating the smells and warmth that we all associate with our beloved mother. Since I know many of you are having fun decorating spaces of your own (and coloring eggs with young ones eagerly awaiting the chance to “hunt” for them), I thought I might share a few ideas to make the holiday a little more colorful.
Create a design that truly incorporates the bright colors of spring! A couple of years ago, I decorated our Easter celebration using orange, pink and yellow tulips, bright blue hydrangeas, festive striped tablecloths with matching chairs, and sweet bunny-shaped cookie favors. I had such a nice time doing it and everyone seemed to really love it. Think outside-of-the-box when it comes to egg decorations–gold and pink, mod, stripes, even glitter!–and give a lush twist to the standard basket by adding goodies like dark chocolate and Nutella.
Whether you celebrate Easter, Passover, or simply just enjoy the change that comes with transitioning from winter to spring, I would like to wish all of you a bright and beautiful “new beginning” that is full of warmth and beauty.
Questions: What is your favorite part of spring? What new beginning are you most looking forward to?
Blessings,
Preston
