Dear Readers,

Happy Monday!  I am currently in Cancun, Mexico, preparing to speak at an ISSE event and wanted to share a bit of the warm sunshine with all of you, if only by way of my words.  Though, I tend to prefer cooler temperatures, there is something about the optimism of the sun that always inspires me.  This morning, I thought of how it brings warmth and light to all of us in the world – the very special gift of the dawn of a new day, which we sometimes forget is really a fresh start.

Having been in this business for over three decades, I can safely say that I have seen both darkness and light.  I am reminded of the wonderful teachings of Buddha who reminds us all that, “You can not have light without darkness, nor darkness without light.” Happiness is balanced by unhappiness.  There are times in which we are challenged and even brought to our knees.  Other times, we catch our stride and jump successfully.

As 2012 begins to wind down, I am thinking about the wonderful new chapter that awaits in 2013. What skin will I shed, and what will I hold onto?  I’d like to ask all of you to share what you’re ready to start for the first time or start again?
