Do You Choose To Be Happy?

Dear Readers:

While I’d love to say that my life is perfect, it’s far from it. I have many things to change and resolve just like everyone else. Here’s the thing: Happiness is a choice and it is my reality. I’m married to the love of my life, I have three beautiful healthy children, and the work that I do truly inspires me on a daily basis. I make the choice to feel fulfilled without giving up the things that really matter to me: Family, Career, and a Life with a Purpose.

We all know this industry is extremely demanding, in fact, it can be exhausting but very rewarding nonetheless. We have to make decisions that allow us to give the best of ourselves at all times without feeling guilty about it. I’ve created few rules in my personal life as well as my work life in order attract the best of both worlds:

Never be too busy to look people in the eye:

Give everyone the time and respect they deserve. We are so worried about moving on to the next thing that we neglect to pay attention, to listen, or to care. Make it a point to be present whether it’s with your clients or with your family, or even with yourself.

Create a Dependable Support System:

Treat your household as a company. Hire the right staff-period. If you decided to stay home make sure you create a schedule that will allow you to focus on work or family, but don’t try to do both at the same time. Trust me, it doesn’t work. Quite frankly, if you do so you may be sabotaging your chances of success.

Care for Yourself:

I still have to work at this one, but I’m getting better at listening to my body (although my husband might disagree). It’s difficult for people in the service industry not to push themselves into the ground. We aim to please and at times this means we sacrifice our own health, time, and sanity. Pay more attention to the signs. Take better care of yourself so you can be even more fabulous when taking care of others.

Make No Room for Negativity:

It’s easy to get caught up in negative situations. I simply walk away from them. Please whatever you do,  always choose light, love and laughter.

Envision Greatness:

Don’t settle for less than you believe you deserve, ever!  Close your eyes and allow yourself to live the life that you envision for yourself. Don’t be afraid to dream more, shine more, love more, give more, and along the way forgive more. Make the choices in your life that work for you, your family, and others. Whenever you feel like giving up, remember why you chose this path in the first place!

With a happy heart,

Kathy
