Inspiration: Flowers In Art

Flowers…are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out-values all the utilities of the world.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Readers:

My love of flowers is well-documented and not uncommon as exhibited by a lover who has picked a single rose to honor romance, or friend who has picked up a bouquet to share their appreciation for their host or loved ones.  Rarely though, do we speak of the inspiration, the joy and the hope one finds when looking at one of these magical gifts from Mother Nature.  Their vibrant colors and varied shapes delight while their signature fragrances fill up a room. Flowers evoke memories and transport us to a more naturally beautiful space.

As a designer, I am constantly inspired by the perfection found in flowers  and delighted by the way they impact and inspire each of us differently, which, for me, is proof of their intrinsic artistic qualities.  Today, I thought it might be nice to share a few different ways various artists have used flowers in their work–some have used them to enhance beauty while others have used them to tell the story of life itself.

Which is your favorite and why?

Blessings,

Preston
