Dear Readers,
Happy Wednesday! The sun is shining here in New York City and it’s clear spring is right around the corner! This morning, while walking to work, I thought about a conversation I had with a friend of mine who asked me to share my “a-ha moment”. An expression that was all but defined by my dear friend Oprah, an “a-ha” moment is one of realization and clarity, and brought about, in my humble opinion, by the divine. In these moments, we receive a message from a higher power intended to point us in the right direction. It is up to us what we do with these rare moments. Will we acknowledge the passion that is wakened in us and allow ourselves to enjoy the experience of falling in love with a path?
I have heard many brides say that they experienced their “a-ha moment” after their wedding. They tell me they felt “so in love” with the planning and organizing that they themselves sought to become planners. Many of them had the courage to embrace the huge responsibility and hard work that planning requires, and others simply ran out of steam when the going got tough. There are times when we forget about these magical moments, and in today’s blog, I would like us to look back through the chapters of our lives and share two of those life-changing instances.
Two of Mine:
Many years ago, while working out of my small apartment in New York, I spent four hours designing a floral basket. When I looked at the time, I was shocked. It felt like I had been working five minutes. I was completely lost in the process of creating this basket, which I found highly enjoyable. Being lost in the creative process was a gift in and of itself, and the client loving it was the icing on the cake. This is when I personally fell in love with working with flowers.
My next moment came into fruition a few years later while standing at the entrance of one of my events. Seeing the expression of joy on the faces of the many guests as they walked in was such a gorgeous blessing. That was it. From that moment, my goal was always to create spaces that brought about an emotional response. The one I aimed for most? Joy.
Now, there have been many other moments bringing about dreams and ideas, some of which I had the courage to pursue and others that I attempted but lost hope. At one point, I will even share the ones I ignored out of laziness. One thing is certain, these days I live in a state of openness and am constantly on these wonderful messages from the universe.
Will you please share with us a couple of yours?
Stay Open,
Preston
