Dear Readers,
Working closely with brides has certainly made me feel like I deserve a honorary psychology degree. I’ve had to listen to my share of stories about how torn or undecided my brides are about making the decision to choose their Maid of Honor. I think deep down they know who their first choice is but they will take their time before they make the announcement in fear of any negative reactions or hurting someone’s feelings.
The process in which we make this decision is more complex than anyone would like to admit. I think many of us expects the bride and groom to pick the most obvious people; close family members and best friends who are on top of the list. However, sometimes it’s not that simple. This decision, like many other wedding decisions, should not be taken lightly and should ultimately make you very happy.
Remember this should not be a friend of the moment. Your maid of honor should be the person that you know will share this joy with you 100%. Keep in mind that you want to choose the person that will be by your side on this special day and will share the memories with you long after your event has ended. When faced with having to choose, if it ever doesn’t feel right, it’s because it isn’t. Make the selection from your heart, but definitely give it some thought before you finally decide.
Readers: I would like to ask you to share your experience on how you chose your Maid of Honor. Was your decision long and thought out or did you know in a heartbeat?
Best,
Kathy
